Don Thebeau
"I did drawing and watercolors of face & figures for about 10 years. I was somewhat reluctant to shall I say force the colors in the human face. I did do some of this but felt the colors were still subtle even the ones which had been enhanced. I was always drawing organic objects , flowers , foods , trees, studies of contorted trees and some quick landscapes. The landscapes gave me the greatest freedom . I soon began to see shapes, not hills or trees and found that my desire for forced colors could be used freely . I began to see shapes divided by 2 or more colors. The intense colors were showing the light while the shadow colors had many tones and of many colors. I now decide on my colors first and then look for an idea / subject / climate weather condition - mist - dusk - twilight and the burst or a mass of some wild flowers. Then my subject is the color of the burst of flowers, the clouds, etc. I can now see the many colors inside green. The excitement for me is placing these colors tangent or near and feeling the energy they have created . Placement of color is my daily challenge and I look so forward to it."  ~ Don Thebeau
